Matt tells us he enjoys low impact sport to compliment his Squash. He enjoys Cycling, Yoga & Swimming!
It’s Cycling however that he is drawn to in the main to support his Squash obsession. Aside from competing in various stunning races like the Etape in the Pyranees in 2005 , Matt likes to vary his normal cycling training.
“If I do a flat ride I try and maintain a set average pace for 1-2hrs. If I do a ride with climbs in it, I use it like an interval workout where I work hard on the climbs, easy downhill and steady on the flat. I try and vary my rides”
“I feel cycling is less demanding on your joints but still works all the lower body muscle groups and your core. I feel I gain Certain aspects of fitness from cycling which help me to play squash at a high intensity and allow me to recover quickly”
This gets us wondering….if an avid Squash player can see the benefits in cycling, how many cyclists might also love Squash?
